Hi everybody, I’m your substitute this week.
We’ve got one great new release and not much else:
The Hold Steady – Stay Positive. This has been available on iTunes for a few weeks, but its hitting stores today, with 3 bonus tracks. I’ll be going to pick this one up at lunch. High five to Camp Tiger Claw for the video choice.
O.a.r. – All Sides. I used to dig these guys in college, but not so much anymore. You probably heard “This Town” if you watched any of the College World Series
John Mellancamp – zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
I’m sure I missed something. Let me know in the comments.
Uh, well, Nas, not that I’ve been trumpeting him for weeks.
I’ll have a review by, I hope, next Friday.
Stay Positive is fucking fantastic and should be picked up. A great summer soundtrack.
I figured you’d have something up on Nas today.
There is a new Tesla live album and a Ritchie Blackmore project called Blackmore’s Night released today as well, but these are only for people that want to rock. Oh yeah, don’t forget about The Who VH1 Rock Honors on Thursday night!
I’ve got nothing to add this week. Was on vacation and missed last week. A couple I would have mentioned not already noted:
The Baseball Project – Vol. 1: Frozen Ropes and Dying Quails
Scott McCaughey and Steve Wynn project. Fine folk oriented songwriter tunes all tracked around the history of baseball. (After all, this is a sports blog spin-off)
Del McCoury – Moneyland
Not exactly a Del McCoury release. A sort of thematic compilation of old and new country bluegrass with new McCoury inserted throughout. Interesting.
