And away we go… (more…)

TODAY!

Neil Diamond is awesome. Idol contestants singing Neil is not nearly as awesome. Today’s post show roundtable is not going to be very round nor even table-shaped. You see, Matt_T was oot and aboot again, Fat-Fat had Brewers tickets, and while I planned to watch Idol after the Tigers-Yankees game – I instead got caught up in the Costas Now madness. HOWEVA, JB* is a goldarn trooper and his report is after the jump…

I think we have all acknowledged that last week’s elimination was horsecrap of the worst kind. Brooke and Jason (and Vote for the Worst)….you are on notice. Guh. Oh well, Carly wasn’t going to win this thing, but I’ll miss the crowd shots of her freakshow husband. Anyhoo, on to the Idolatry after the jump…

We have got a pretty good week of music releases staring us in the face this week.

I really like Augustana’s first album, especially the title track. “Boston” got them some MTV and pop radio play, but, like so many radio hits, I didn’t even like that one too much. However, this is far from the biggest release of the week. That honor belongs to our first artist following the jump…

Don Geiss (Welcome back, Rip Torn) is in to see Jack at his office, but he’s feeling the effects of his diabetes. Meanwhile, future son-in-law Devon Banks is off picking out floral arrangements with Cathy. In Devon’s case, this consists mostly of flirting with the flower shop employee about Fire Island. Maybe he’ll run into Will. In the background, Cathy’s testing out the edibility of the arrangements. She’s probably been watching a little too much Bear Grylls. Don appears to let Jack down softly about the GE chairmanship, but it’s a feint:  Jack will be his successor. Jack immediately reddens and begins to well up. It’s hard to tell if he’s happy or having another cardiac episode. Don: “You get one cry in life; you’ve chosen well!” “When will this be made public, sir?” asks Jack. “I want my mother to know before she dies so that she goes to her grave a defeated woman.” Geiss says that it has to be presented to the board and Jack has to get his successor in place. Well, now that we’ve got our plots in line, time for the credits. (more…)

I’m going from yakkers to knuckleballs. Here’s M.I.A.

Loud, brash, and insidiously catchy. I like it.

Watch for more posts out of me the next couple days.

This episode opens on a beautiful morning, with Dave and Joey goofing off in Kimberly’s bed (not like that, perv). We also see Sarah on the phone with her boyfriend, and she tells him that Will has a crush on her. Surprisingly, her boyfriend is not pleased. At the same time, Will is talking to Brianna about his crush, and he asks her for her help. Join me after the jump to find out what all this has to do with being too “ghetto”.

I knew this day would come. I knew it from the very beginning that when the show would end somehow Kelso wouldn’t be the Chief of Medicine anymore. But now that it’s here…IT SUCKS. I almost feel like crying. Almost. And this was yet another good episode. Lawrence and crew is on a roll. Let’s get to the recap, shall we? (more…)

The Shape of Things to Come (Ben-centric)

Well, apparently I missed the recap of episode 8; here it is in bullet-point fashion:

  • Yup, Michael is back.
  • Michael tried to kill himself, but the island wouldn’t let him.
  • Rousseau and Karl were gunned down in a drive-by (or something to that effect-PQ)

Okay, now we’re up to speed, yes? I’m not going to waste anymore time writing up an introduction; hit the jump for the recap of the best episode of Lost since the finale of season three.

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to my season’s worth of recaps for How I Met Your Mother. Welcome, once more, to Urban HIMYMs.

So here’s the deal:

I’m going to try and keep this brief in the outline, and then just move to my notes.  I’m going to stick with the ten things manner that we had last week.  Certainly, as a starting point for discussion.

Before I do that, however, may I just give a giant freaking hat tip for the team that puts Cobie Smulders together week in and week out.  Hair, makeup, wardrobe, all of you take something great and just make it awesome.  Well done.

And away we go… (more…)

Don’t watch this without headphones. This is the new Nas.

To the tune of “Be a Pepper Too,” and off the new album of the same replacement word. I think it’s pretty standard flow from the pride of Queensbridge, but the message will get people buzzing.

I’m really curious what people who aren’t big hip-hop fans think.

Yep. That was kinda ugly, although it could have gone worse. We’ve survived Andrew Lloyd Webber week – isn’t Neil Effing Diamond week next?  I hope so. The roundtable speaks after the jump – sans Matt_T, who took a chance to see the Nats whip the Braves instead. Granted, he saw Smoltz’s 3000th K and didn’t have to sit through an hour of showtunes – I still say FAIL. The EPIC FAIL of ALW week…AFTER THE JUMP!
