Real World Recap – So Long, Farewell! Friday, November 30, 2007

This episode picks up right where we last left off, with a nice recap of Trisha and Parissa raising holy hell. Trisha rushes back to the phone and tells her father, “I just pushed a fat girl” (her religious parents must be so proud!). She and Parissa then have this brilliant exchange: Parissa – “Go ahead and talk to them. You’re better than me in every way!” Trisha – “I know.” (Hint: She will be tasting some humble pie, although she eats it completely obliviously). Join me after the jump for all of the repercussions.

Which is something I never thought I would say about a television show that didn’t involve baby tigers or cartoon characters. But Thursday night’s show was. Hey, who needs the NFL Network when you have a brand new Scrubs to watch? I know I sure don’t. Also I don’t get the channel. But I wouldn’t have watched the game even if I did. Really, honestly, not pulling your leg.

But back to the show. We got three distinct stories that interconnected at the end. And the return of Hooch. And in case you forgotten, Hooch is crazy. Really, Hooch is seriously crazy. (more…)

Well we made it to the end of the week together kids. With a little bit of luck, Jerkwheat will be back on Monday. So for the week, I’m going to leave you with one of my favorite songs, being covered live by my favorite band*.

Chloe Dancer/Crown of Thorns – Pearl Jam (originally by Mother Love Bone)

* It’s taken a lot of restraint not to post Pearl Jam every day

I know I’ve been pulling out the older material this week, so I promise to pick something a little more recent tomorrow. But who can argue with this…

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to my season’s worth of recaps for How I Met Your Mother. Welcome, once more, to Urban HIMYMs.

I’m now pretty sure ladies and gentlemen, but this might be my last one for a while. If we don’t see each other again this season, just know that it’s been a pleasure.

This is a performance of A Quick One While He’s Away that The Who did for the Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus in 1968. As legend goes, the Rolling Stones felt somewhat upstaged by the Who’s performance and that’s part of why this video was hidden away for nearly 30 years, only to surface in 1996.

Liz walks into Jack’s office, where there’s a $54 steak on the table. After his cardiac episode, he can’t eat it, but he wants to watch her enjoy it. Liz is OK with that. Jack wants to know if she’s seen the new Don Geiss interview in Yachting Illustrated. Liz: “No, I subscribe to Giant Boats“. In it, he makes a confused metaphor about the sea that concludes with “all things must end,” from which Jack draws that Geiss will be retiring soon. Jack has to do something to position himself in the competition to fill Geiss’s chair. He turns back to Liz, shocked. “You ate that whole thing?” Liz, her mouth full: “A dog took it. He came out of nowhere.”

This episode opens with Trisha on the phone with Jarod. While she is on the phone, Parissa’s family calls (apparently several times, if Trisha is to be believed), which interrupts her conversation. When she is done, she tells Parissa that it was rude that her parents called “50,000 times”. Parissa responds by telling Trisha that she is the one being rude and of course they begin to argue.Trisha finishes up with the brilliant “I apologize, but not sincerely”. How does this go over? Join me after the jump to find out.

When DeadOn was conceived (in the bed of a pickup truck while My Bloody Valentine’s Loveless tootled on the stereo, if you must know) I swore I would be the blog’s resident Project Runway analyst. After months of laborious waiting, Bravo has finally birthed the fourth season of Project Runway.

Let’s recap (and I’ll give the birth analogies a rest) after the jump!

Despite being physically young, I often find myself with enough vindictiveness that could last several lifetimes. Hence, the title of this column. If I come up with a better explanation, this shall be replaced.

It’s the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, which means it’s perfect timing for analyzing summer music.  What says the end of summer like Thanksgiving (I mean, besides something like Labor Day–that’s too obvious)?  As one of the few people that still listens to rock radio, I have a vested interest in what is played.  And let me tell you, this summer it was absolute crap (more so than usual!).  Not only was there nothing good to hear, but I couldn’t even take my mind off the dreadful summer heat with a good “summer song”.  Let’s analyze this further… (more…)

It’s a really slow week for new releases – I honestly don’t think there is one thing I’m planning on picking. I am an unabashed Idol junkie, I’m not about to buy an Idol cd (sorry Jordin Sparks!) so today’s pick is coming out of a reissue coming out this week…

An expanded, deluxe 20th (20??!!!??) anniversary edition of The Joshua Tree hits stores today – and so do a few other things…to the jump!

This episode opens with Isaac leaving a note for all the roommates stating that he has faxed himself to China and will “rescently [sic] be sending schimatics [sic]” for them to locate him. Alrighty then. With that strange turn of events in motion, let’s explore the rest of this episode, shall we?

[What’s that? This recap is late? Well fuck you too – I had to go away on business and didn’t watch the episode until today. Fuckin’ lazy bastards]

Pete’s watching a Lifetime movie at the apartment when Liz comes in. Neither one knows where this maple syrup smell is coming from. Liz calls Tracy to make sure he’s practicing his Rerun dance for the show, but he can’t concentrate because he smells it too, all the way in Jersey. Jack calls. He smells it too, but it’s probably not a Northrax attack, because that kills you in 10 seconds. 10 seconds later: “OK, I’ll talk to you tomorrow.”

I survived my time in The Cleve and have returned to bring you some good old fashioned morning rock – and, once again, we’ve got a short week in front of us do to Thanksgiving. I promise at least today and tomorrow though, ok? Then we’ll get back to something resembling normal real soon…

HA! They put out a new album last week and I hated missing my chance to go all 80s on you last Tuesday.

And by past I mean it was a light show that didn’t have any overwhelming issues that carried over from one episode to the next. Or at least so far it doesn’t look like it will. And while some may disagree with me, I thought it was one of the better episodes so far this season. Granted this season for Scrubs is four episodes old, but you get my point. I thought the show had many funny moments and two good storylines that gave us a beginning, middle, and ending. Plus there was a lot of character interaction (mixing Dr. Cox’s and JD’s stories) that added to the show. So let’s start at the beginning, shall we? (more…)
