Very special afternoon standup this week. I bring you a new comic that many of you haven’t heard of before. His name is Nick Thune and the man is a genius. If you missed his story about his first girlfriend on Leno a week or so ago, go hunt it down, its classic. And for those of you wanting more, don’t worry, he will be taping a Comedy Central special on August 25th and should be airing sometime in the fall.Mark my word, Thune will be the next quotable comic around the Deadspinet soon. Until then, enjoy a duet about an episode of phone tag he had with an ex girlfriend.
UPDATE*: The video of Thune’s performance on Leno has been found. Hit the jump for the funnies thing you will see all week.

Saturday is here again, and I am reminded that on this day, 7 years ago, Carl Everett hit two homeruns for the Red Sox, to beat the Rangers and give Rolando Arrojo his 6th victory of the season. That is why I bring to you Lewis Black and his thoughts on the evolution vs. creation “debate”.

Welcome to Saturday everybody. After a full week of work listening to boringly incomprehensible presentations, I have just the thing for you: standup comedy revolving exclusively around PowerPoint. So take this time to vent your anger.. Feel free to take off your pants, open a beer, and yell at the screen. Just don’t let it become a habit, acting in a similar manner could be disastrous on Monday.

Sorry for leaving you all without any weekend entertainment for the last month or so, I pulled a Minkus and just disappeared up the stairs for six seasons. But, I’m back now, and that’s all that important. This weekend, in honor of new beginnings, I’m getting back to our roots with the man who inspired the famous ellipsis whenever somebody mentions the collective noun for the female gender. Enjoy.

Remember 30 Rock? That’s a funny show and I miss it. Remember Jerry Seinfeld? He’s funny, I miss him too. They should get together and maybe have Jerry make a guest appearance. Wait, what? Jerry is appearing in the season 2 premiere on October 4th.
I was thrilled to be asked to guest star on NBC’s hit comedy ’30 Rock,'” Seinfeld said. “I think it’s going to be so refreshing for me to be playing myself in a show that has nothing to do with neurotic, dysfunctional New York characters.
That Jerry is a funny man. Sarcasm and observational humor: he’s a double threat!

With Apple Corp. (The Beatles multi-faceted multimedia would-be empire) and Apple Computer finally ending decades of legal battles earlier this year, and reconciliation of sorts with Paul McCartney releases on iTunes and iPod commercials, it looks about time to release the full Beatles’ catalogue to be added to the world’s most popular online music store. Rumors have been circulating that Apple Computers will celebrate with a Yellow Submarine themed iPod, which would come fully loaded with all 12 of the Fab Four’s UK studio albums. This is my little internet discovery from last night. I was searching around the youtubes for some of those subway performers that do the kick ass drums on empty buckets and turned up this which is far better. The group is called Naturally 7 and apparently is pretty big over in Europe and Japan. Any band that can get a group of frosty old Frenchies turned around and bobbing to the beat is ok with me. I’ll have to catch them the next time they go on a stateside tour.
Big Brother: More Superficial Than Ever Saturday, July 7, 2007Posted by The Fan's Attic in Baba Oje, Chilltown, just some poor attempts at humor, Lady Andrea, more indepth than probably need-be, reality TV, The Fan's Attic.
America’s favorite summertime reality show, Big Brother, returned to the airwaves for its eighth installment on Thursday. BB feeds the voyeur inside of all Americans. This year 14 people moved into the Big Brother house with cameras recording their every move. We get to see them do exciting stuff like scratch their asses when they are bored out of their gourdes, which is probably all the time. Along the way the contestants play stupid little games for power in the house. The ultimate goal is to be the last one standing and win $500,000. Really, it’s like Real World under house arrest and a concrete goal at the end of show. (Editor’s note: The Fan’s Attic wrote this post but it was developed with the help of Lady Andrea, Baba Oje and Chilltown. I have tried to attribute jokes to the person I believe made them. If I didn’t credit you, I’m sorry.) More after the jump…. (more…)

So its one month away from the exciting conclusion to Bourne film trilogy. Judging by the trailer, this thing is going to be up to the high standards of the first two. The Bourne Ultimatum has all the car chases, covert operations, and general ass kickings that made the first two film awesome. Add in a little parkour action that made the beginning of Casino Royale fucking rule, an even more pissed off Jason Bourne and Bourne Ultimatum just moved to the top of my must see summer movie list.

Every once in awhile a special show comes along. It has everything you want – drama, explosions, some hot chicks, a black guy that goes commando all over everybody’s ass, and a guy who was in Ninja Turtles – but its on CBS and airs against American Idol where good TV goes to die. A second season was expected, but the show was officially canceled, too late to not have the series end in a cliff hanger. Well the intertubes came alive and petitioned Mr. Leslie Moonves – LESLIE! – and the show is returning on July 9 to kick some more ass. That’s right folks, Jericho is back!
(and yes, I know this was officially announced more than a week ago, but CBS has just started running commercials)

After a one week hiatus, Saturday Afternoon Standup returns with a vengeance. This week I bring you a double dose of Flight of the Conchords. This is their second time being honored here at Deadon, but this week they have something they would like to plug. Starting this Sunday, HBO will be airing a new series cleverly titled “Flight of the Conchords”. So set your Tivos for 10:30 in the PM on Sundays and prepare for the funny. Until then enjoy two folk tale adventures Aesop wishes he could have thought up.

Britney Spears has just announced that she is allowing fans to name her new album. So far her top 5 titles are:
- Omg is Like Lindsay Lohan Like Okay Like
- What if the Joke is on You
- Down Boy
Something tells me that it won’t be “Dignity” or “Integrity”. Either way, I’m sure we can come up with something better, so lets hear it people.

After hitting it big, making tons of cash, banging random groupies on the road, and doing enough drugs to make Daryl Strawberry blush, a buttload of artists came together to repent for their past sins by doing songs for charity. Great idea, until they decide to sell somebody else’s songs. This time they chose to cover songs from John Lennon’s solo career. I’ve heard a couple songs, and have to say, on the whole, not a bad job. The double album hits stores today, so consider this a less well informed supplement to New Music Tuesday. Follow the jump for the full list of who is singing what and thoughts on the songs I could find. Also gratuitous photos of some of the biddies performing on the album. (+25 hits, oooo ya)

As a special Frozen Yogurt bonus, after the jump we have the single greatest moment in television history. So grab a bowl of of black raspberry and enjoy. Except you damn Canadians and Polaks, you have to sit in the corner and watch us laugh and eat delicious low fat dessert.
Sgt. Pepper’s Turns 40 Friday, June 1, 2007Posted by Baba Oje in American Idol, Baba Oje, beatles, hatchet jobs, objectivity is overrated.
Tags: Commercialism, just raw hate, This never would have happened if Lennon was alive
It was forty years ago today, Sgt. Peppers began to play. (see what I did there?) 1967 was known as the summer of love, and it was all kicked off with the release of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band by the Beatles. An album doesn’t become universally loved and renown unless its damn good, so listen to a sample here and go out and buy the album if you haven’t already.
DeadOn isn’t the only source celebrating the anniversary. Apparently the douche bags over at American Idol decided to celebrate by not only perverting it to make more money to support Paula Abdul-Jabbar’s drug habit and pay for Simon Cowell’s ever growing collection of black v-neck t-shirts, but they also wanted to ruin some of the greatest music ever written. More on that after the jump.

Memorial Day is here again and while you celebrate the unofficial start of summer with drunken debauchery at cookouts, our servicemen and women are over seas fighting for us. We really couldn’t ask them for more, they have already given us freedom and a day off from work, but they are givers goddamnit! Our troops won’t rest until we are free from both terror and boredom, which is why I bring to you the best our boys have to offer. Sit, back and enjoy these videos, and feel free to bust out the ol’ USA! USA! chant at appropriate times, and don’t forget to donate to our friends over at the the Adam Knox Fund.

Little change of pace this week. I wanted to put up a bunch if clips from the 1996 Dana Carvey HBO Critics’ Choice special, but youtube is sorely lacking in that department. Instead I bring to you a clip from Letterman of Jim Carey making fun of the ridiculous one liners delivered by Caruso at the start of each episode.
Hit the jump for a compilation of actual openings to CSI: Miami, complete with The Who. It does not disappoint.
