New Music Tuesday – January 27th, 2009 Tuesday, January 27, 2009

It’s getting really hard to find actual videos from major label artists that are embeddable. But, hey, who wants people to be able to view videos? Lets make ’em go to a “destination portal” or something like that instead. Anyhoo – it’s gonna be a quick run down after the jump due to the time contraints that a move entails…

Bruce Springsteen – Working On A Dream
I’ve seen a few unkind early reviews that say this one comes across a little bit rushed. Not surprising since this album was, ya know, kinda rushed.

Franz Ferdinand – Tonite:
I’m digging “Lucid Dreams” thus far and have enjoyed the output-to-date of the late Archduke. Perhaps this will provide a soundtrack to my move.

Mark Olson and Gary Louris – Ready For The Flood

Duncan Sheik – Whisper House
I say this with no intended irony – Duncan Sheik is very underrated. Daylight is a near perfect album. I mean this. He’s a heckuva songwriter and I’m pretty intrigued to hear this here “concept album” he’s got going on.

Also today, Steve Martin releases a banjo album and a new album from Hoobastank will cause you to ponder the existance of a higher power.

Maybe I’ll see you kids again later this week – but it’s unlikely. So, uh, til Monday (most likely…)

Hoobastank? BryanBuStank! (nm, high school thing that is like a natural reaction call and response)

Did you get the video(s) I sent you? Stereogum actually had a thing on him yesterday.

Pat DiNizio – Buddy Holly

Chamber string + acousticish rock reworking of Buddy Holly tunes. Pat DiNizio (and The Smithereens as well) are tragically under-appreciated.
