Whoa. It is freaking DECEMBER. The end (of 2008) is near gang. The snow is thinking about falling and it’s time to finally give up the idea of still having on shorts when I take out the hounds at 6am. Also, it’ll be time for Your Morning Rock In Review soon enough…

Let’s get to the week.

1. DougOLis - Monday, December 1, 2008

It is I, DougOLis, and I have made my triumphant return. Found a fantastic nationwide indie rock station down under called Triple J that played a fabulous selection of music (especially one DJ named Zan who seriously could have been playing songs straight off my iPhone). Music they played in heavy rotation: Kinds of Leon, The Living End, MGMT, The Ting Tings, Santogold, Fleet Foxes, TV on the Radio, Katy Perry, Bloc Party, The Killers (but “Spaceman” instead of “Human”). Other music they played: New Pornographers, Rilo Kiley, Nick Cave, M83, Animal Collective, Broken Social Scene, Patrick Watson, Radiohead, Matt Costa, and Sigur Ros. Anywho, good stuff, good trip, glad to be back.

2. Rockabye - Monday, December 1, 2008

On a drive from the Space Coast of Florida to Gainesville that took five hours (usually less than three), I found AM sports talk from Cincinnati, Charlotte, and Tennessee, the official homes of the Bengals, Panthers, and Vols, respectively.

This was not particularly enjoyable.

Welcome back Doug – glad to hear the trip to the bottom half of the world was a good one for you.

Doesn’t Triple J broadcast online? Or perhaps it did once upon a time. The name sounds really familiar…
