1520 Sedgwick Avenue: April 22nd, 2008 Tuesday, April 22, 2008

Posted by Andy Hutchins in 1520 Sedgwick Avenue, Rockabye.

There’s some sort of political thing in Pennsylvania, I hear.

“This isn’t a let’s get free jam/But can we all feel the freedom?” Yes, we can.

More fun with hip-hopolitics after the jump.

I really like the above song, a summery, classic beat with a flow that’s equal parts joy and politic; I’ve probably listened to it about ten times since I saw it first, so…

Now, the rest:

And a MoDo column on it. I dunno, I think Obama knows Jay’s behind him, ’cause he endorses Barry in concert (bonus Kanye performance), and has recorded a robocall for change for Ohio, and I’m pretty sure Obama’s a Jay fan, so I found this very cool, even if the lion’s share of the older white people in the background of the above video have no idea what the reference is.

I’m really, really sorry about that. Suffice to say, Obama’s got the music edge in the Dem race.

But, wait, John McCain’s got an ultrahip parody of will.i.am…oh, never mind.

Watch the woman who’s signing around the midway mark.

Also, if you ever wondered if there was someone who could fill Weird Al’s shoes for hip-hop:

Props to Nah Right and ill doctrine for having quality stuff for me to jack.

And thus ends The CNN Avenue. Tune in tomorrow (no, really, DO come by tomorrow) when we look at Fox News’ favorite rapper and the song Bill O’Reilly will be taking him to task for this summer.
