Your Morning Rock/New Music Tuesday – March 18th, 2008 Tuesday, March 18, 2008

Posted by Jerkwheat in jerkwheat, New Music Tuesday, Your Morning Rock.

It’s not an overly exciting week in new releases, but there are a couple that might tickle your fancy…

New DeVotchKa today (the above is old…) and a little something from the lovely Zooey Deschanel…

She & Him – Volume One
Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward collaborate and a pleasant little set of tunes. It’s certainly better than most celebrity entries into the music world. Hell, I may even be tempted to pick it up.

Yael Naim – Self-Titled

Oh yes, right, the MacBook Air song…

DeVotchKa – A Mad and Faithful Telling
It’s their first album on ANTI- (is that like a mid-major debut?) and the folks behind the Little Miss Sunshine soundtrack are back with some more quiet (it’s a very quiet release week in many, many ways) songs involving many, many instruments. If you dig the indie/punky/folky thing, this is ready for you, aight?

Destroyer – Trouble In Dreams
I feel like I should be more familiar with these fellas, but I’m not so there ya go.

Adam Green – Sixes and Sevens

Oh and a shit ton of Mission of Burma reissues as well. Maybe this week is pretty decent afterall. Let’s talk about it in the comments.

Is Zooey the one from Elf? She had a dandy of a little voice and would be quite interested in hearing what she sounds like with M. Ward.

re DeVotchKa: I have a feeling this one might put me to sleep. Maybe not. I’ll give it a try on Rhapsody and then decide.

Is “New Soul” representative of Yeal Naim? Have you heard anything else about her other than that song?

Zooey is the Deschanel from Elf – and she is a pretty talented lass.

I have not heard anything aside from “New Soul” on the Naim album – I may be tempted to check out a few samples on the iTunes later.
