Real World Recap – Fresh Meat Ashli Arrives. Friday, November 9, 2007

Posted by The NY Kid in Fuck You Nibbles, MTV, reality TV, undergroundBTO.

Given Shauvon’s shocking (not really) departure, this episode opens with most of the roommates wondering about who their new roommate will be and when they will arrive (Isaac is on the phone with Noirin, too busy to be bothered with such trivial matters). So who is it? Join me after the jump to find out.

Oh, crafty MTV producers! Before we find out who the new roommate is, we are treated to scenes of Isaac and Noirin walking around town, getting to know each other. While they are walking, Noirin asks Isaac if he is Catholic or Protestant (careful, this is an incredibly touchy question for the Irish – next she’ll ask if you are a Celtic or Rangers fan (footy, people, not NBA and NHL)), to which Isaac responds that he is Jewish (really? with a name like Isaac, who would have guessed).

Later that night, Ashli, 19 years old, from Huntington Beach, California arrives and announces that she is their new roommate. After meeting everyone, she declares that Dunbar is the cutest (yes, his incomprehensible rage is adorable). Parissa then shows her around the house and takes her to their bedroom (get your minds out of the gutters, pervs!). Meanwhile, Trisha and KellyAnne go out for some ice cream and take the opportunity to talk about Ashli. They decide that they like her, since her personality seems compatible. A little while later, we see Ashli in her room tearing all of Shauvon’s pictures off the wall (on the hand, it’s a bit much, but on the other hand I can understand her not wanting pictures of Shauvon and friends all over her room). She takes the opportunity to ask KellyAnne about all of the good gossip in the house.

Still later that night, everyone goes out to the bar. While Dunbar takes the opportunity to stare obsessively at Ashli, Trisha pulls her aside and tells her to be careful of Parissa because she (Parissa) has already made comments about not being able to relate to her. Back at home, we are treated to scenes of Noirin and Isaac making out like its their first date.

The next day, we see Parissa on the phone with her younger sister talking about her difficulties in the house and how she hasn’t been able to concentrate on her music. Her sister tells her to take some time to get to know her roommates, but Parissa says that she has been attacked by them every other night and is not having a positive experience in the house. Meanwhile, Ashli goes shopping with Trisha and KellyAnne and she tells them that Parissa isn’t really making an effort to get to know her.

Back at the house, we see Isaac on the phone with Noirin, talking about going out. She can’t go with him, so she tells him to “be good” (FORESHADOWING!). Within a few hours, everyone is at the bar and Isaac is talking to some random girls. He invites them all back to the house, but after a relatively short amount of time, he kicks them all out (albeit politely). He then makes the mistake of drunk-dialing Noirin, who gets mad at him when he tells her that he brought 3 drunk girls back to the house with him (who would have seen that coming?). Eventually he calms her down with his smooth sweet-talk, which leads to…

The next morning, Noirin comes over to wake Isaac up (with a some smoochies! how cute), and she crawls into bed with him. Out in the living room, KellyAnne tells Parissa that Ashli really wants to get to know her, but Parissa says that Ashli’s questions to her “didn’t feel genuine” (as, yes, because you are an authority on genuine).

That night, we see Parissa sitting outside by herself, and she begins to sob uncontrollably. She says that she is upset that she couldn’t give Ashli the benefit of the doubt because of how she feels about the rest of the roommates. How sad.

Overall, a pretty boring episode, considering that they were introducing a new roommate. This girl had better start drinking, fighting, sexing if she wants to keep things interesting.

Ashli’s kind of weird looking.
