Your Morning Rock/New Music Tuesday – October 23rd, 2007 Tuesday, October 23, 2007

Posted by Jerkwheat in jerkwheat, New Music Tuesday, Your Morning Rock.

Yes, yes – I know there was no Monday rockage. It’s gonna happen every so often. Sometimes twice within a week. But fret not, I’ll always (ok, maybe not ALWAYS) be there for you on Tuesday. So, let’s get to it…

Coheed and Cambria – The Running Free

New C+C is out today…but what else? JUMP!

Coheed and Cambria – No World For Tomorrow: Really Long Title That I’ll Never Get Correct IV, or maybe V or VI at this point
I dig these guys even if they are weird as all fuck. I’m not likely to pick this up right away, but it’ll probably snake it’s way into the rotation at some point. Just like their last few records.

Carrie Underwood – Carnival Ride
American Idol’s biggest selling artist (sorry Kelly, you’ve been replaced) puts out album number two. Tony Romo already has a copy. I kinda liked a couple of the songs I heard off of her first album – not all bad for generic Nashville pap.

Ween – La Cucaracha
It’s Ween, dude. You’re either buying this thing right away or not at all.

Ryan Adams and the Cardinals – Follow The Lights
Another week, another new release from Ryan Adams. This EP has 2 new songs and 5 other songs (including a cover of “Down In A Hole”) recorded live in the studio. And I’m FINALLY going to see Ryan Adams live next Tuesday. Good times. At least, I hope they will be.

Robert Plant and Alison Krauss – Raising Sand
This is a curious pairing and if any of you have heard any of it, let me know how it is.

Some other highlights include new albums from Gary Allan, Emily Rossum, Neil Young, and Dwight Yoakum. Let’s discuss.

1. Camp Tiger Claw - Tuesday, October 23, 2007

The Robert Plant/Alison Krauss thing is ok, kinda snoozy. Heard a couple tracks recently. It’s funny, John Paul Jones is also doing bluegrass stuff these days, but he can really play mandolin.

If Bonham was alive he’d probably be sitting in with the Flecktones.

My oldest daughter and son (15 and 12 respectively) both dig C&C and were anxiously awaiting this day. I must admit, I’m proud that my daughter, who dances competitively using hip-hop, rap and pop, is open-minded enough to claim C&C as an interest. Her old man has listened to his fair share of Rush and Yes, so it’s OK by me too.

Neil Young has put a handful of tunes from the new release on YouTube.

In regards to American Idol, Bo Bice has a new release today as well. It’s Walmart and iTunes only. Which to too bad, because it’s a hell of a lot better than that first disc he put out. Legit southern rock. Kind of a Black Crowes with a Bo Bice twist.

Whoo! New Co & Ca. Ps. you can listen to it for free on their myspace. I’m going to pick up after work. Its awesome. Met them a few years ago, really cool guys. I don’t really understand the lyrics most of the time, but the guitar riffs are ridiculous. Lots of vox use too.

4. Greek McPapadopoulos - Tuesday, October 23, 2007

I’m going to be picking up Serj Tankian’s solo release. I love his voice, especially the Mediterranean nature of it, and am looking forward to hearing how he sounds without the rest of System of a Down.
