So, I was just reading a random stupid article about The Hills (cause I’m 17% gay) on USA Today (cause I’m 62% dumb) and I came across this quote from Heidi..

It’s a short week! Huzzah!

So, this is the obligatory post in the blogworld in which we bid farewell to Will Leitch. Obviously, we at DeadOn have every reason in the world to be thankful to Will. Both DeadOn and Ladies… were both born of Deadspin, and not just Deadspin, but of DU!AN. And on the same night at that. I don’t do long, eloquent anythings well - so I’m not going to try here. All I’m gonna say is this: Thank you, Will. Thank you for providing a web site where we could all gather with other smart asses who don’t really want to perform our jobs from 9-5. Thank you for providing the place where we’ve met great new friends, both online and in the real world. Thank you for all of your work over the past few years. I’ll be sure to set up a “Will Leitch” Google Alert now, because God knows I’m not about to start reading New York Magazine. God speed you, Midwestern Blog Emperor.

I’ve mentioned it before, but one of the perks/nuisances of having a decently trafficked blog with a lot of music content is the frequency with which you are pitched bands that nobody cares about. I try to take the time to check them out when I get sent the link because you get the occasional gem with the junk (see our previous post on This Is Ivy League). Thankfully, we’ve once again been sent a real gem.

The Fairline Parkway are a DC band (huzzah local music!) who have a new album that just came out on The Kora Records called The Memory of Open Spaces. You just enjoyed the video for “Westward Bound”. If you are a DC local, you might be inclined to head over to The Rock and Roll Hotel on Sunday night for their record release party. You can stream a couple songs on the above linked MySpace page and they’re all very lovely little indie pop songs.

Anyhoo, I hope you enjoy the tune and take a deeper dig into this fine band.
