I will be using the “Bring On The Rapture” tag liberally for VIBE’s utterly asinine NCAA-style bracket to crown the Best Rapper Alive, but, first, a snapshot of the stupidity.

The Play-In Round: Jim Jones vs. Diddy

Seriously, I could have lived the rest of my life without giving either one of these guys a second thought as an artist. Jones’ career highlight is the moronic “We Fly High,” with its “BALLIN’!” an insidious echo; Diddy’s is basically reappropriating “Every Step You Take” as a Biggie tribute and laying down rhymes that do hit, emotionally, but probably make Biggie tear up at Sean Combs’ terrible delivery.

Still, the latter’s a classic, and Jones is trash. I voted for Diddy, but I, knowing that the Internet is stupid as hell, pick Jim Jones to advance.

The fullVIBE brackets, which I’ll tear apart later this weekend or on Monday, are even worse than this.
