Probably more than anybody else, we here at DeadOn believe in the power of pop culture. When I recently came across a couple of phrases I had never heard over at Idioms - How to talk in the 21st Century, I thought I should share them with the DeadOn readers due to their strong ties to video games that we all know and love.
I’m going to bang the bricks
The idiom used for I’m going to go withdraw money from the ATM. I don’t know why, but I’ve never liked telling people I had to get cash out of the bank. I like references to Super Mario Brothers much better.
The blocks didn’t fall right
The idiom, referencing Tetris, is used for when something in life just doesn’t turn out the way you wanted it to. If your like me, just hearing the word “Tetris” makes you start playing a game of it in your head.
Do you have any idioms such as this that are pop-culture related? or just plain awesome? Tell us more in the comments…

Continuing your Saturday of copyright infringement fun…
Since I can’t think up good comedy myself except for some wise ass one-liners
, I’ll just bring you some of my favorite stand up comedians to make you laugh instead. And then take all the credit. For our first weekend morning of fun I bring to you Zach Galifianakis. You may know him from the very underrated Out Cold (which is a comedy remake of Casablanca by the way) or from touring with the Comedians of Comedy. If you like Mitch Hedberg or Demetri Martin, you will like this guy. Lots of strange, unconnected jokes and fun for all ages. Hit the jump for his Comedy Central Presents special.
Saturday Morning - “DangerMouse” Saturday, March 3, 2007

Yes, I know- DangerMouse (the cartoon, not the DJ) wasn’t actual Saturday morning fare, but I’m not going to consider myself limited by date and time restrictions. It’s a kids show from the 80s… so it qualifies. The title character is a British super secret agent, working from his headquarters in a pillar postbox on Baker Street in London, with sidekick Penfold (a hamster) by his side. DangerMouse has no real name, no real identity- and no left eye (so he wears that sexy eyepatch). He fills his days saving the world, as all heroes do- and particularly trying to foil the plans of the toad villain Greenback. We never find out how or why he lost that left eye- one can only assume it was in a daring adventure at the hands of a ne’er-do-well.
See a full-length episode, plus a bonus 80s commercial, after the jump…
Survivor: Livin’ Lovely and an SOS to the World Saturday, March 3, 2007

Previouslies…Gary takes a hard spill and his physical well-being isn’t great. Moto wins the food challenge. Sylvia gets booted. Read the recap if you need to get caught up.
Back at Ravu, after voting off Sylvia, Earl wants to “powwow.” Rocky thinks Anthony is a complainer and that all Anthony does is bitch and moan. Hello kettle? This is Rocky. You’re black. Anthony interviews that he always had low self-esteem and got picked on a lot. He is crying and saying that he won’t give up. God, the drama. They both suck. Rocky is a douchebag but Anthony is throwing a festive little pity-party. They can both take a flying leap.
