Okay, so my first post has a title that I should shoot myself for, but hey, I think blogging is supposed to appeal to the masses so I will not be using cliches sparingly. I’ll cut to the chase (okay, I’ll stop using cliches now). Rules of Engagement (Mondays, 9:30, CBS) is the best new show out there, bar none. And yes, just in case you were wondering, David Spade is pretty damn good.
The show looks at the every day trials and travails of relationships and life through the eyes of a married couple, a newly engaged couple, and Spade, the single player. I waited to watch a few episodes to make sure that it was not a fluke, and I have been pleasantly suprised.

Once again, I attempt to keep various peoples I do not know up-to-date on what’s happening with their favorite bands. With the Nirvana post on Deadspin, I think everyone is excited to talk about music today. Not too much to report this week, but news about Interpol’s new album, My Morning Jacket reliving Back to the Future, and SASQUATCH makes a visit. Plus, a Queens of the Stone Age update and great news for those who will miss the Rage Against the Machine reunion at Coachella, after the jump. (more…)

Aside from links from popular sports blogs, word of mouth and individuals stalking our female contributors, how do people find their way to DeadOn? In this weekly feature (future installments will post on Monday mornings), I’ll cover the most random and most amusing search strings that led people to our little corner of the eBays.

Previously, all the teams got sent to Ecuador (not to be confused with Peru) and the daunting task of finding the North entrance of a giant national park proved too much for a lot of the teams, with Team Face Ball-Stoppers being eliminated first. Remember kids, no more training wheels. We are using the names I came up with and that is that.
Tonight, it appears that during the pitstop Drew needed oxygen for altitude sickness. Seriously, he looks sick to me. Not, like the flu or altitude sickness, like Cancer or AIDS sick. I wonder if something actually is wrong with him. Oh well, by the end of this episode I’ll wish he’d been hit by a bus, so whatever. This is like Bizarro Amazing Race, where everybody is a total dick. Well, way more than in a normal episode. To find out how, follow me… (more…)

“She Drives Me Crazy” by Fine Young Cannibals
circa 1989
from the album The Raw and the Cooked
I’m not sure what two guys dressed in matching knickers and goggles, who jump around like characters in a Frogger game, have to do with a guy in love… but somehow they seem to fit in with in this very random video from the Fine Young Cannibals. In addition to the Frogger guys, there’s a dancing dude in a striped suit, a flaming guitar, a guy in a karate suit with a TV for a head, two headbanging chicks in pads, singing lifesavers rolls and a guy with red pillows strapped to him. Oh, and the lead singer who has both freaky eyes and a freakier hairline.

Welcome back and fasten your seatbelt for another edition of “Get to Know A Musician”, our weekly column that focuses on musical artists that have recently been in the news.
This week, we have none other than The Police. Now before all you Columbian coke mules start keistering your stash, I should tell you that this isn’t really la policía. It isn’t even like Steve Gutenberg when he portrayed Cadet Carey Mahoney in Police Academy. It’s just three pasty white men who play music, have tantric sex, and compose for films and tv shows.

Monday has come for us once again. Hope you weren’t up too late watching those high falutin’ Hollywood types patting themselves on the back again. It’s a real shame that [INSERT AWARD LOSER] didn’t win, but hey who saw a win for [THE EVENING'S BIG UPSET] coming? And I think we all knew that [AL GORE]’s speech would run on and on! Anyway, perhaps it’s time for one of my favorite Oscar nominated songs of all time. It’s a downer, for sure, but it’s a Monday so that’s to be expected.
Do you miss me?
What The Frak: Your Weekly Battlestar Galactica Recap Monday, February 26, 2007

Let’s face it; as fans of Battlestar Galactica, we’re looking forward to the last four episodes of the season, which start next week and promise to do a whole hell of a lot to push the story forward. Until then, the writers are taking the opportunity to explore certain characters and themes. Last week, it was Adama, and the week before that, bigotry. This episode, “Dirty Hands”, takes on issues of class, and does so with Chief Tyrol as the protagonist. Much to discuss, and enjoy about this episode, but time is short (silly day job), so onward.
Poster’s note: be sure to read the Oscar liveblog, brought to you by some of DeadOn’s finest. I laughed, I cried, I liked it better than Cats.
