As a little kid in the ’80s, Saturday mornings were the golden hours- nonstop blocks of cartoons on all the networks, plus an opportunity to see all the latest and greatest toys, sugary cereals and other products that ad execs were aiming straight at kids. To honor that lovely tradition, each Saturday morning I’ll bring you an episode of “classic” kids television of the ’80s (and by classic, I mean “cheestastically awesome”), with a bonus ’80s commercial behind the jump.

Muppet Babies was the cartoon that brought together the vocal talents of Howie Mandel, Barbara Billingsley AND Dave Coulier- a finer group of thespians has not since been assembled. The show raised a number of questions that puzzled kids: Why did Fozzie always get booed on stage? Exactly what kind of animal is Gonzo? Why were so many frightening things hiding in the babies’ closet? Where the heck did Skeeter come from? And what exactly does Nanny’s face look like? I guess we’ll never know.
