THIS IS NOT A GAME PEOPLE (Well, actually it is) – The White Rapper Show Tuesday, February 20, 2007

How about that? The White Rapper Show finally makes a show that is mainly rap-driven rather than television-driven and we get the best episode of the season. Who could have came up with a crazy idea like that?
All joking aside, last night’s White Rapper Show was far superior to any of the previous episodes. You had a trip to
Detroit, you had battles, you had the Insane Clown Posse. Well, maybe not everything was good, but in general this was by far the best episode of the season.

This was not how it was supposed to end.*
I’ll confess right up front to being the Kool-Aid-swillingest, boom-box-outside-the-window-hoistingest, lit-from-behind-eyed zealot when it comes to Aaron Sorkin. I can quote entire episodes of Sports Night and The West Wing backwards and in my sleep. There is no reasoning with me. However! Rest easy. From the way things stand this morning, it looks like you’ll never get the chance to figure this out on your own.
Oscar Week Special! Watching the Noms So You Don’t Have To: The Queen Tuesday, February 20, 2007

Unlike most blogs that wouldn’t piss on you if your hair was on fire, here at DeadOn we care about our readers.

We know that you don’t have the time, money or dating capacity to get out and watch all of this year’s Best Picture Oscar nominees. But you absolutely want to be able to impress your co-workers around the water cooler with your ruminations of what each movie has to say about the human condition, and you damn well want to win your Oscar office pool.
Therefore, as a service to our readers, some of our contributors are gathering every night this week at a renovated strip club now operating as a movie theatre (with very sticky floors) in Cary, North Carolina.
We are capturing their observations through a liveblog while they watch and annoy the patrons around them by talking incessantly throughout the movie and by kicking the chairs of the old people sitting in front of them.
Today’s movie is The Queen, as viewed by CDNMoose, GordonShumway, elric, Texas Gal and SVPIMH. (more…)
Upon Further Review: Buffalo Tom Let Me Come Over Tuesday, February 20, 2007

As a companion piece to the weekly Great Albums You Might Have Missed, on Tuesdays I’ll be running Upon Further Review. It’s basically the same thing only it’s more about albums that, with the benefit of time, were better (or worse) than originally thought.
It’s hard to begrudge someone making a living, but finding out that Bill Janovitz had become a real estate agent in Boston was akin to learning that JR Richard was living under a bridge. Maybe worse even. You could give Richard a job and remedy his situation. Janovitz’ problem was his job. His current one. Previously he had been the frontman for Buffalo Tom. And in 1992 the band released the best album of the Nineties not called Nevermind.
Hyperbole? Probably. Yes, Nirvana reshaped the entire topography of the popular music landscape blah blah blah. Buffalo Tom did something far more remarkable with 1992’s Let Me Come Over. They made an album I still listen to. And often. And for that nobody should have to suffer the fate of having a day job. (more…)

this was supposed to post at 7:30am, yet it didn’t….hmmmmm
Ah, Tuesday. Perhaps the most depressing of workdays? The “new-week” shine has worn off, it doesn’t have a fun name like “hump day”, and it’s way too soon to think about weekend getting here already. Allow Your Morning Rock to present you with a visual of the good times that are ahead of you, once we survive the day.
The overgrown supershit.
