Alas!

Alas, that other incarnations of the Eternal Champion must share my grief!

Truly, the sorrow that comes with our fate is a common theme no matter what level of the multiverse we inhabit.

Gilmore Girls Recap – Commence Mocking…Now Thursday, February 15, 2007

When I first drafted this post I had an eloquent explanation as to why I liked the Gilmore Girls and why I would ever admit it.  Upon further review, I realized it was just a weak attempt to avoid the constant mocking and taunting of others and if I can’t handle the heat I shouldn’t be in the kitchen or some stupid cliché like that then I shouldn’t post it.  So…mock away…take your potshots…that’s what this blog is for—mocking….  I can take anything you dish out because I am a man, “A manny, manny, man” and I have balls the size of watermelons.

Let me just say I like the show.  I like the writing; I like the little nuggets of pop culture slipped in; and, I can relate to the show but not in a John Mark Karr way.  Just in a child of divorced parents, child of a young mother way.  And, I find Lauren Graham attractive.  Enough about me.  Let us journey on to the recap…

Whatup people? I am the SML, and this is me popping my cherry. Initially I was going to post this morning, when no one is looking, hoping to get it in before the traffic came, but then Will had to go give us a lovely shoutout, and here we are. So my goal now is to do for the rest of the DeadOn crew what I do in karaoke – set the bar so low that everyone that follows is bursting with confidence. After I’m done with my gangsta version of Barry Manilow’s Copacabana, well… let’s just say that everyone is ready to grab the mic and the playlist is full….

So, this week’s post is 5 Random Songs From My I-Pod (which has almost 40 gigs of music, and almost none of it is albums; that’s just how much I like music, and some of it is respectable, and some of it is crap):

Ah. Nothing tickles one’s funny bone like a reference to an early nineties presidential advisor. With that, I introduce my contribution(s?) to DeadOn, which will be synopses & discussion of recent magazine issues. As a subscriber to six, & frequent newsstand purchaser of Playboy, I think I have plenty of material with which to work. (more…)

Who doesn’t love watching things blow up? In an occasional segment that shall be called “Blow It Up”, we will do just that; watch a building get leveled with high power explosives.

First on the chopping block, the Kingdome in Seattle, WA which met it’s fate in March of 2000. The building was the home of the Seahawks(NFL), Mariners(MLB), and at one point the Supersonics(NBA). In its place now sits Quest Field, the home of the Seahawks. The Mariners relocated to Safeco Field, which sits only a few hundred yards away. The Sonics play in Key Arena on the other side of town, but a move to Oklahoma is possibly in the near future.

Upon completion of college, a wide-eyed lad or lass will say pretty much anything to get that first important job. While my interview was a haze of important-sounding words, Windsor knots and resume objectives, they gave the job. Because evidently I said, “yes I’ll do that” to “Will you travel over 200 days a year to cities you’ve never heard of before?”

A year and a half later, the job has yet to crush my soul. Namely because Bowling Green athletics took care of that. Given this, it may be time to share the tales spun from countless road trips, continental breakfasts and frisky airport security henchmen. Henceforth, the voyages of a sports and string cheese junkie whose username contains superfluous hyphens will be seen here in the mythical realm of DeadOn in a segment apparently called:
